This elegant building designed by architect James McKinnon, was brought to life in 1880 with the intention to become a fashionable promenade.
Not only a blue plaque property but also the last surviving Victorian Arcade in the city, a complete restoration of the building was proposed to recapture its original splendour with a contemporary feel making it a key shopping destination.
The arcade was last refurbished in 1994, however these modern alterations during the nineties had detracted from its authentic style and ornamentation.
Our aim was to enhance what already exists and remove any less sympathetic additions made during previous renovations. Restoring the original iron signage and laying a new Italian terrazzo floor were a nod to the arcade’s original form.
The final design is a beautiful space fit for luxurious retail and a landmark for generations to come.
