One of Manchester’s grandest hotels, it was designed by Architect Charles’s Trubshaw and has a Grade II English Heritage Listing. Charles Rolls met Henry Royce at the hotel, leading to the formation of Rolls-Royce Limited in 1904 and set the stage for many illustrious visitors ever since.
We are delighted that the Midland Hotel, has been awarded ‘The Best Hotel lobby interior’ in Europe at the International Property Awards 2023.
A luxurious Railway Hotel, which still maintains a great deal of its original architectural façade details; had fallen victim to poor renovations with the interior losing the majority of its original splendour.
The brief was to create a larger seating area in the lobby where guests could lounge throughout the day, and to re-vamp the reception and check-in areas to become both functional and practical.
Our aim was to create a light filled, dramatic space that felt both exciting and welcoming. The final design was a modern take on the Victorian idea of a Wintergarden or palm house.
